A Performing Arts School with a difference

Even before it was launched the Managing Principal Joelle Elcock had very strong views as to how best students could benefit and develop by a visit from or attending Turbelle’s Performing Arts.

The schools cover a wide age group, from three to forty years old, with varied abilities and different needs. Whilst some students attend because they simply love and want to learn how to dance, sing and act, others are attending because they are planning a career in performing, requiring the classical subjects; like ballet and tap and skills like singing and acting. Turbelle’s professional tutors are able to cater for all those needs, encouraging and supporting their students as teachers, and mentors.

Progression and achievement is catered for, with the students being prepared for exams, medal tests, festivals and Turbelle’s own production.

Turbelle’s is a multi-cultural, happy, team spirited and friendly school, whilst keeping a disciplined and structured environment.

Members of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

We are an access centre to the Award Scheme with our own coordinator and encourage our students to take part as many organisations such as employers and universities take a good view of the Award and what it says about the person who has achieved it.

Performances

The year Sept 04 to July 05 saw Turbelle’s students perform on 14 stages, including Walthamstow Assembly Hall, Kenneth More Theatre, Trafalgar Sq, Stratford Circus and Sadler’s Wells. To top it all London Youth Arts Network nominated Turbelle’s with seven others out of 600 groups and organisations for a FLYA Award, for Best Collaborative work. We went onto take 1st place in The Duke of Edinburgh Award ‘Reaching Out’ Showcase at Stratford Circus.

We certainly intend to participate in more competitions in the coming year
